The Sony Xperia Z3 is priced $564.87, competing with other high range smartphones from big brands like Samsung, HTC, LG, Apple.
The Xperia Z3 is equipped with a 2.5 GHz Snapdragon 801 quad-core processor and 3GB of RAM. Like the Z2, it has a 5.2 inch screen but a lighter and neater one. The Full HD display is impressive enough as the Z3 uses great image technologies from Sony like Triluminos, X-Reality or Live Led Colour.
Another upgrade we can see in the Z3 is the camera that has a wider viewing angle and higher ISOs. We also have Hi-Res Audio, bringing us better audio than ever.
Design
The Sony Xperia Z3 owns aOmmi Balance design with metal borders and 2 two pieces of glass that are redesigned to be thinner and lighter than its predecessors.
The metal edges with rounded corners give us a comfortable and firmgrip. Unlike the continuous line on the Z1 and the Z2,the Z3 is left out 4 corners and added pieces of plastic that have the same color as the edges.
The Xperia Z3 is waterproof and has an IP58 rating. But all the ports are covered except for the headphone jack. On the right are the SIM port and memory card port. Speaking of SIM, the Z3 uses nano-sim instead of micro-sim as before. What lies on the left is the charging port and on the top is the headphone jack.
The buttons for volume, power and camera are placed on the right edge just like the two previous models. Two dual speakers are on the front but on the inside instead of next to the screenforour fingers might accidently block the speakers. The glass material is nice looking but easy to catch residues, being one of the cons of the Z3.
Screen
The screen of the Xperia Z3 has a 5.2-inch full HD display instead of 2K display like the new high range smartphones. However, Sony gave it an IPS panel along with image technologies from Bravias TV: Triluminous, X-Reality Mobile and Mobile Bravia Engine. That is the reason why the image quality of the Z3 is regarded the best of its range.
The screen, with the help of the Live Led Colour technology, has vivid colors and a wide range of viewing angles. In addition to that, thanks to the bright colors, users can view in broad daylight with no difficulties. Similar to the Z2, this Z3 supports glove touch, a definitely cool feature for a cold weather.
Features
The Sony Xperia Z3 runs on Android 4.4 KitKatand thewell knownXperia UI. Besides using apps from Google Play Store, there is also another app store developed by Sony. Moreover, the Xperia UI is among the best interfaces, having beautiful icons, smart and smooth performance as well as great multitasking.
The one that captures our attention the most is the PS4 integration. The Xperia Z3 is now a screen of your PS4 and you can use the PS4 controller to play games on the Z3.
Camera
The Xperia Z3 has a 20.7 MPrear camera with flash and a 2.2 MP front camera. The rear camera uses a 1/2.3 inch sensor, the biggest of the Android smartphones.
Looking at the specs, we can see there is no upgrade from Sony, but in fact, the image quality is greatly improved. First, the 25mm wide-angle G-lensare suitably great for photos taken indoors or of a group. Second, the highest ISO is now 12.800 and aperture is now f/2.0, the numbers that we can hardly see on smartphones.
Sony also built several photo modes with easy interface. The Superior Auto mode works more effectively than ever by choosing the right mode quickly. The downsides of the Superior Auto mode are not correctly white balanced photos and the availability of only 8 MP. For better results, we have to adjust manually.
The features that are highly valued of the Xperia Z3 are 4K video filming and live wallpapers. If we compare it to the other Z models, this one handles performance better, produces less heat and encounters less problems while shooting 4K videos.
Performance and Battery
The handset is powered by a 2.5GHz quad-core Snapdragon 801MSM8974-AC, GPU Adreno 330 and 3GB of RAM. With the specs in the highest range, the Z3 brings to us great performances without any lag. We can say that Sony’s smartphones are among the best high range smartphones these days.
About its battery,3.100 mAh is ideally up to 2 days. But if you are the kind of users that keep push notifications and browse web frequently then it can last for about a day. But if you are not then, more than a day is what you will get. And with the Stamina or Ultra Stamina features, you can save your battery from running low.
